2008
A Vision Takes Root
This was the year it all began. Nestled roughly 375 kilometers from both Hyderabad and Bangalore, the journey of building the winery came with its fair share of hurdles. Large plots of land were acquired, and the groundwork for vine cultivation began—a labor-intensive process that took nearly two years to complete.
2009
A Name is Born
While the groundwork was being laid, a name had to be found—one that echoed both its Indian origin and the uniqueness of its founders’ dream. The perfect choice was a fusion of their identities: blending ‘Krishna’ and ‘Uma’ gave rise to ‘KRSMA’ (pronounced Kris-Ma), a title as personal as it is iconic.
2010
Inaugural Harvest
This was a milestone year—the first crop of grapes was ready to be picked. Cabernet Sauvignon was the pioneering varietal, producing KRSMA’s debut vintage. Yet, in a bold move driven by an uncompromising commitment to excellence, the founders chose not to release it, believing the next harvest would yield something truly remarkable. And they were right.
2011
Debut of a Classic
KRSMA Estates’ flagship Cabernet Sauvignon finally saw the light of day. Alongside this, the winery was now equipped with cutting-edge production systems, and additional grape varietals—Sangiovese, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc—were introduced. These would go on to become cherished staples of the KRSMA collection.
2012
The First Taste of Triumph
This was the year the vineyard bore its first bottles of Sauvignon Blanc and Sangiovese. The Sauvignon Blanc vintage from this year proudly clinched a Bronze at the prestigious New Zealand International Wine Show, marking KRSMA’s very first global accolade.
2013
K2 Debuts & Gold Arrives
This was a landmark year filled with milestones. A second label was introduced—the KRSMA K2 series—crafted in a Bordeaux-inspired style, offering a younger, more vibrant experience of KRSMA’s wine personality.
Also in 2013, the first vintage of Chardonnay was released. And the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon earned its first Gold Medal at the China Wine and Spirits Awards, adding a major feather to KRSMA’s cap.
2015
A Magnum Leap Forward
In a defining moment for Indian winemaking, KRSMA hosted the country’s first vertical tasting of four different vintages of its Cabernet Sauvignon in Bangalore, bringing together luminaries from the culinary and wine industries. At the same event, KRSMA made history by becoming the first Indian winery to unveil Magnum bottles of their reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
2016
The Arrival of Syrah
The debut vintage of Syrah made its mark even before it was released, winning awards and generating buzz. With every passing year, KRSMA has refined its craft, growing stronger with each harvest and constantly embracing evolution and discovery.
