Cabernet Sauvignon

2 0 1 1 W i n e m a k e r s N o t e s

The original and most powerful expression from the house of KRSMA Estates. This is the first vintage from our vineyard, our flagship red, and arguably our most celebrated wine till date.

Crafted using fully ripe Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, the wine is deep purple in color with a medium to full bodied palate. It has complex notes of cassis, star anise, liquorice and undertones of mocha and dark cocoa, rounding off on the palate with well-structured black tea tannins and the subtleness of French oak.

The 2012 vintage is an alter ego of the 2011 vintage. There is a lot to discover in this wine, starting with what meets the eye – ruby red color with a light violet hue in the glass, the wine is primarily fruit-forward with a slightly floral nose that subtly expresses itself over time.

The palate is a pleasing revelation of red and black fruits, blackberries, ripe plum, sour black cherries, and velvety tannins that finish long with a hint of sweet spice.

This wine is best summarized as ‘Brilliance in a Glass’. Bold and beautiful in the classic sense of being a new world wine, this vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon is robust, impeccably balanced with notes of cassis, blackberries, liquorice, dark plums, sour red cherries, cinnamon, toasty spices, sage, and well-integrated, expressive tannins that speak a story of its own.

Friendly, flamboyant, yet making a strong mark with an intense and unforgettable finish.

Sophisticated and sculptured, this wine is a dynamic blend of muscularity and sleekness.

The dark and intense color in the glass holds the promise of being a robust, dark fruit driven wine. The aromas set the stage as soon as the magic of decanting enables the wine to express itself. On the palate, dark blackberries, plum and hints of cocoa provide a mouth-filling character and the supple smoothness of the tannins round off the wine in a near perfect manner.

This vintage undoubtedly proves to be an unbeatable classic in the history of KRSMA Estates. Food friendly, palate friendly and with many layers of complexity and depth to its credit, this wine demands your attention and will earn your respect.

Dark notions of ripe black fruit, a juicy mouth-feel, and smooth tannins are interwoven between undertones of smoke, cocoa, surprisingly bright layers of cassis and red cherry around structured acidity and oak. This vintage is absolutely cellar-worthy and will age well for many years to come.

Softer than its predecessors, this smooth, fruity, and indulgent wine is the new luxury-drinking Cabernet Sauvignon.
It starts out as juicy, fruit-forward, and captivating with red cherries, pomegranate, hints of blackberry and cassis that are full and fresh and not jammy and overripe. On the finish, it has a slight savouriness, however overall well balanced with expressive, juicy tannins. This vintage proves to be a palate pleaser and a more early-approachable style compared to its denser and complex older Cabernet siblings.

Deep ruby with garnet edges (showing early signs of evolution). Medium plus intensity, with good clarity and a faint bricking on the rim with a youthful nose of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum at the core. On the Palate this luscious cabernet is Medium to full body with firm, grippy tannins that are structured but not harsh. Fruit concentration is solid cassis, dark cherry, black plum with a core of dark berry. The mid-palate picks up a hint of black olive and tobacco leaf. The acidity is balanced, keeping the wine fresh, and the finish is fairly long.

This wine is best summarized as ‘Liquid Gold’ of its weight. Complex yet finely sculpted, the intense ruby red color in the glass holds the promise of being a robust, dark fruit-driven wine. We used different strains of yeast to ferment different plots of grapes and when blended just before bottling, the result is this intensely complex and fruity vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon with a lovely balance of acid and fruit shining through. Impeccably balanced aromas of dark berries against woody notes of the oak coupled with the supple smoothness of tannins speak a story of its own.

Deep garnet with visual feel of high fruit concentration. The nose is vibrant and expressive. Cassis, black cherry, and blackcurrant. Secondary notes of dark chocolate, liquorice, a whiff of espresso. The Palate is medium to medium minus, with more opulence and richness in fruit. Tannins are firm yet slightly silkier than the previous vintages, supporting dense fruit layers. The oak is evident but integrated. Good balancing acidity keeps the wine from becoming heavy. The finish is long and persistent.
